What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Gainesville's public art for its vibrancy and accessibility, transforming the city into an engaging outdoor gallery. The Quinlan Visual Arts Center is highlighted as a community hub, particularly for its excellent pottery program and diverse exhibitions. While most art is free and open to all, some visitors note that specific event details or workshop availability should be confirmed directly.
"I am new to pottery have been taking pottery classes from Lesther Martin at Quinlan since October. He is an excellent teacher. He demonstrates and is present while I get used to the different techniques. His saying is - Process over perfection. Learning to work with clay takes practice. Lesther is very encouraging and knowledgable. I am hooked and even became a Ceramic Member so I can continue working and improving at their open studio. It is really a wonderful place to work and create. I highly recommend the pottery classes and becoming a Ceramic member of the Quinlan."

"Beyond just a large space for art exhibits, The Quinlan has a very active pottery program. My wife started lessons late last year, and convinced me to enroll in January. I found the teacher (Lesther Martin) had incredible knowledge and skills and is happy to help anyone advance their skills. I soon went from no skills to a passing competency on the wheel and hand building. We enjoyed the program so much we signed up for more classes and eventually decided to become members of the pottery program so we could have more than the 2.5 hour lesson time weekly to practice our skills and create. We highly recommend signing up for a lesson or two if you have even a passing interest in pottery, a craft with deep roots here in North Georgia."

"Quinlan Arts Studio is a wonderful place to learn and create. I attend classes here and I'm also a ceramic member, and I absolutely love both the space and the people. The environment is welcoming, inspiring, and full of positive energy.
A special shout out to my instructor, Lesther. He’s not only incredibly knowledgeable and supportive but also brings fun to his classes. He makes learning easy and meets you at your skill level. I highly recommend taking a class here."
