Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the Fall Creek Unit's enchanting redwood forests, serene creek, and historical Lime Kilns ruins. The trails offer a beautiful blend of natural scenery and gentle adventure, with many appreciating the chance to spot unique wildlife like banana slugs. The main drawback is the small, often crowded parking lot, making early arrival essential.

"You can choose your own journey through this series of trails in the Henry Cowell Redwoods. I started off following the Fall Creek Trail along the water's edge, which weaves back and forth over the water surrounded by ferns and lush greenery. Then took the Cape Horn Trail through the redwoods to the old lime kilns, where I joined the South Fork Trail to head back to my starting point. All told that was about 4 miles, all of it beautiful! Plenty of flora and fauna and amazing smells in the forest. Awesome spot! Parking can be challenging as the lot is small."

Helen Marquis

"Get there early to avoid the parking chaos that is inevitably going to happen. We arrived at 0730 and there was plenty of parking. We did the big ben trail and it was a blast. Was able to do it with my children. Was 8.33 miles long and about 2000 ft total elevation climb. It is definitely a tougher hike but totally worth it!"

Ryan Skibicki

"It is a great starting point for a series of trails along a creek. The elevation changes are quite gentle. There are some easy waterways crossing. Overall, it is very enjoyable and scenic."
