What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally find Lake D'Arbonne State Park to be a relaxing retreat with beautiful water views and good fishing opportunities. The cabins are a popular choice, especially in the fall. However, some areas, particularly campsite pads and trails, could benefit from better maintenance and repairs.
"We stayed for 10 nights and we had a good time the trails could be maintained better but still nice they have several fishing docks they rent kayaks as well and there's a swimming pool"

"I brought 3 young boys and my teenage son. Pool was nice and water was cool it wasn’t crowded. The rules are a little strict (only allow bottle water and no toys) but I’m sure it cuts down on the place getting trashed. They do need to implement a dress code there were a couple of girls in thong bikinis. I’m fine for a bikini but cover at least half your bottom."
Danielle Clack
"I recently stayed at this campground for the second time and once again had a fantastic experience. This place is a true relaxing retreat, with beautiful grounds and calming water views that make you feel completely at peace. The campsites are large and spacious, perfect for setting up a cozy campfire and enjoying the great outdoors.
If you want a more level site, I recommend getting site 24 or 25 as some of the other sites can be a bit uneven. The gate can be a bit tricky to unlock, if you are out past dark, so be sure to have a flashlight handy and be prepared to get down on the ground to reach the lock.
Overall, I highly recommend this campground to anyone looking for a tranquil getaway. I will definitely be back again in the future."

Exploring Lake D'Arbonne's Natural Beauty
One unique aspect of the park is the possibility of experiencing a lake 'draw down.' This intentional lowering of the water level, often for maintenance or invasive species control, can create an eerie yet beautiful landscape. While it might alter immediate water access, it provides a different perspective on the lake's ecosystem and shoreline. This phenomenon, combined with the park's natural tranquility, makes Lake D'Arbonne a destination with distinct visual appeal.
Accommodation Options: Cabins vs. Campsites
Campsites at Lake D'Arbonne offer a more traditional outdoor experience. They are known for being spacious and providing ample shade from mature trees. However, potential campers should be aware that some campsite pads may be uneven or require minor repairs. Reviewers suggest that sites 24 and 25 are among the more level options. The park also features laundry facilities with a few washers and dryers available for campers.
Fishing and Water Activities
Beyond fishing, visitors can take advantage of other water-based activities. The park offers kayak rentals, allowing guests to explore the lake at their own pace and enjoy the serene environment from the water. While the park has a swimming pool, direct lake swimming access might be affected by the 'draw down' periods. Overall, the lake is the central hub for recreational activities within the park.
