Reviews Summary

Kapapapuhi Point Park is a beautiful, peaceful spot with lovely West Loch views and a bird sanctuary, appreciated for its community spirit and volunteer efforts. However, visitors note significant issues with pollution, aging infrastructure like rotting docks, and the presence of homeless individuals, impacting the overall experience despite the park's natural charm.

"A beautiful and peaceful park with plenty to offer. Parking was easy, and the bathrooms were open. I saw people fishing and picnicking, adding to the relaxing atmosphere. At first glance, I thought the park was small after completing the loop quickly, but if you venture past the restroom area, you'll discover a long walking path. I'll definitely be returning!"

Cihan Akdere

"This is a beautiful, underappreciated part of the island. The park has one of the best views of West Loch, a massive brackish lagoon with calm water. All sorts of creatures call this place home, such as fish, crabs, sponges, and even seahorses (although they're hard to spot). This makes the park a popular fishing destination. Along the park's shores are old wooden docks for fishing and hanging out, although they're brittle and rotting away. There's also a trail that leads to a sanctuary for wetland birds.

The biggest issue with the park is that it's heavily polluted. The water in West Loch is contaminated and full of chemicals left over from when the area was used by the Navy, as well as from agricultural runoff. The water is a murky brown, especially after rainy days. Trash is also a common sight.

A few homeless/houseless people call some of the more secluded docks home, but they usually keep to themselves.

Despite the pollution and the rotting docks, I still love this park. The people who maintain the park care a whole lot about it and try their absolute best to keep it clean. Volunteers also help out from time to time.

The photos are from when I did volunteer work for the park in High School (4 years ago)."

"Just sad. All the wharves are damaged, lots of trash around and upkeep has obviously not been maintained. Too bad because the bay itself is pretty and the wharves must have been really cool when they were maintained."
