What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Beardsley Park is a beloved community space, particularly praised for its family-friendly amenities like the zoo and playgrounds. Visitors appreciate the free access to play areas and the variety of activities available. However, some reviews mention concerns about the presence of homeless individuals in certain areas and the parking sticker requirement.
"A quaint pocket park situated along the St. Joseph River at the base of the bridge that crosses into downtown Elkhart. Access is down a steep curved drive dropping quickly from Beardsley Ave at Main Street intersection. The gate states that the park entrance-way is closed during certain seasons (winter most likely). Very well manicured & landscaped. Very large trees create a heavily shaded canopy. There are a few fixed benches to sit and watch the water fowl floating nearby. The City Parks Department has installed a handy canoe launch point with a safety guide. No fee is required to enter. This is not a park designed for large groups that need to spread out — but perfect for individuals, couples or small families. No playground equipment was observed on this visit. Definitely more of a nature park setting."
Steve Dycus
"Small "park", good spot for having lunch and watching the river. Entering/Exiting the driveway can be horrendous as its right after a busy intersection, single lane, and down hill a good slope. I see people fishing here all the time and its generally a pretty clean area. Mind the geese."
Chris Wells
"Chill and peaceful car parking available."
