Visitors consistently praise Oliver Mansion Copshaholm for its stunning beauty, well-preserved original interiors, and knowledgeable tour guides. The mansion offers a captivating journey into Victorian-era life. Some find the strict preservation rules a bit overbearing, especially for younger children, and note the original wood floors are largely covered by carpet.
"My sister and I stopped while on a road trip. We got the passes for the museums but ended up doing only the mansion tour (due to our own time constraints).
The mansion itself is beautiful! So many amazing items that were just cool and/or historical.
They really kept the place nice.
It was very hot when we stopped and they did I nice job with A/Cs to keep the place relatively comfortable. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable.
No public restroom in the mansion and there are stairs, some of them tight.
We were very happy with our stop!"

"It's an interesting tour and is a beautiful home. The tour is about 90 minutes long and goes through all 38 rooms. Unfortunately is not kid friendly as young children cannot even touch wood stair railings or unbreakable tables. However, it was clear the Oliver family loved and adored their children, allowing them to rollerskate in the house, jump onto pillows from one floor to the other, encouraged them to run about, and even built in a room for children to learn how to play the piano. While our young boys did well on the tour and our tour guide was likely only enforcing the rules, the rules were a strict and at times overbearing. Likewise, the entire party had to always be kept together in tight quarters in view of our guide even when people wanted to take photos without having others in the shot. The original wood floors were covered in carpets by the city to keep the floors preserved so only very small portions of the floors were actually visible. I'm not sure how a maximum of two dozen people touring slowly through the house per day would damage the wooden floors that have been there for 125+ years if the carpet was removed, nor am I sure why they are preserving floors that nobody will ever be able to see. I think if the Oliver family were still alive, they might be impressed with many things how their house was cared for, but unimpressed that it does not cater to children and unimpressed with the overprotective environment, most notably the floors being carpeted by the city after they left."
