What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors love Maple Hollow for its beautiful views and dog-friendly trails, especially the accessible loop to the suspension bridge. However, the limited shade can make it uncomfortable in warmer weather, and parking can be challenging due to its popularity with both hikers and mountain bikers.
"This is our favorite place to walk our dog when the temperatures are below 60 degrees. When it's hotter than that, it's too much for her, and there isn't any shade along the trail.
The views along the trail are beautiful. The length of the trail is also perfect for walking our pup, getting her tired, and allowing her time to meet some other nice doggies. Portions of the trail system here allow dogs to be off leash, and other areas require that dogs be leashed.
The parking at this trailhead does get a bit packed, and there are also many mountain bikers that use these trails. Make sure your dog is under control so they don't get hit by a biker. There are also porcupines and mountain lions that are in this area, so please be careful with your pups.
There is a water fountain in the parking lot that also has a water fountain for dogs, but it is turned off for the colder months. (The water fountain was turned off today, 15 Nov 2025.)"

"This was an awesome night-hike in the snow. Frankly, I'm not sure which trail we ended up walking, but with our kids we probably only ventured less than half a mile into the wilderness. But with fresh snow I thought we were going to be in for a harder time than we had, but it seems as though someone flattened much of the snow along the trails, so we were easily able to find and keep our way."

Navigating the Trails: Hiking vs. Biking
When planning your visit, consider the time of year. The trails are beautiful year-round, but shade is limited, making cooler months ideal for hiking. Winter can bring snow, transforming the landscape into a serene winter wonderland, though it can also make trails more challenging. Always check weather and trail conditions before you go, especially if you're planning a winter excursion.
Remember that this area is also home to wildlife, including porcupines and mountain lions. Keeping your pets leashed and staying aware of your surroundings are essential for a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, including the local fauna.
Pet-Friendly Adventures at Maple Hollow
When bringing your dog, always be prepared. Carry poop bags to maintain the cleanliness of the trails and ensure your dog is under control at all times. This is particularly important due to the presence of mountain bikers who share the trails. Being mindful of other trail users and wildlife is key to a harmonious experience.
While the trails offer beautiful scenery, the lack of shade means it can get quite hot during warmer months. It's best to visit during cooler parts of the day or in cooler seasons to ensure your dog's comfort and safety. Always check local advisories for any specific pet-related regulations or warnings.
