"I take my dogs here frequently, whether it’s to play at the dog park or to swim in the lake! We love this park, I’d say it’s the best park in Cookeville! Dog park is always buzzing with happy dogs & great people! The walking trail is lovely with beautiful views & fresh air. There’s also a playground for kids on the other side of the park from the dog park, so it has it all! People also love to fish here, I think they release fish every year into it. So something for everyone!"

"My family and I love it here, it's absolutely beautiful. We love to walk the trail, fish, and play on the playground. My only complaint is there should be more bathrooms around the park where the walking trails are. It's hard to really enjoy the whole park when you have children who need to use the bathroom on a whim."

Exploring the Trails
Beyond the main loop, the park's 262 acres offer ample space for exploration. While the paved trail is the most popular, the park's natural setting invites further discovery. It's a fantastic place for a leisurely walk, a brisk jog, or a relaxed bike ride, all while enjoying the fresh air and scenic views of the lake.
Key takeaway: The paved trail is well-maintained and offers beautiful lake views, making it a highlight for most visitors. Remember to wear comfortable shoes, as you might be tempted to walk the entire loop multiple times!
Family and Pet-Friendly Fun
For families with children, the playground area offers plenty of play structures to keep younger visitors entertained. This, combined with the walking trails and the lake activities, makes it a well-rounded destination for a family outing. However, it's worth noting that some visitors have mentioned a desire for more restrooms, particularly near the walking trails, which is a practical consideration for families with young children.
Community Tip: The park's layout separates the dog park from the main playground area, which can be beneficial for managing different types of visitors and their needs.
The Mysterious Blue Water
According to local insights and visitor observations, this blue color is likely due to the use of algae treatments or other chemicals introduced to manage the water quality. These treatments are common in lakes to control excessive algae growth, which can affect the ecosystem and aesthetics of the water body. Some also speculate it might help reduce heat absorption.
Important Note: While the color might seem unusual, it's generally understood to be a management practice and not a cause for alarm. Visitors can still enjoy fishing and boating in the lake.
