Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Wyoming State Capitol for its stunning architecture, rich history, and the exceptional warmth of its staff. Many highlight the free admission and the opportunity to learn about Wyoming's pioneering role in women's suffrage. While some note limited weekend access, the overall experience is described as highly informative and welcoming.

"Loved this experience. Wife brought me into Cheyenne from fort Collins while visiting family. Got to check another state off my list and as we were driving in saw this amazing building. Stopped to take pictures and found out you could do a self-guided tour. The lady at the information desk was super helpful, absolutely wonderful, and a beacon of sunshine she and her just to go in to the offices that weren't in use and see the courts and where the representatives meet and all of it was absolutely amazing. To know that it had recently been restored and they had just opened a new exhibit for people on the bottom floor the week before made it feel really special. I loved the statues that they had around the rotunda and all the stained glass as well as the pictures in the corners of each of the large rooms representing the history of Wyoming. Best of all this is free It cost nothing and you learn a lot of history including seeing all the previous governors from their portraits hung on the walls."

"The Wyoming State Capitol is a beautiful and historic building in Cheyenne. Even though it was closed on the day we visited, we were still able to walk around the grounds and enjoyed seeing the impressive bronze statues outside. The architecture itself is worth a stop, and the grounds are well kept. I’d definitely like to come back when it’s open to explore the inside it looks like it would be a great experience."

"We walked through the main entrance and were greeted by this sweet lady (I think her name was Bonnie), like it was her home and we had been invited to visit. She was full of info about the history of the building, the materials used (for marble from two states, one of which included fossils), the wood used in the railings, and that Wyoming was the first state to give women the right to vote, among many other things. This welcome set the tone for our enjoyable visit.

We spent almost two hours wandering the halls, and the chambers for the Senate and House, appreciating the artwork everywhere, including the Four Sisters sculptures. This building is ADA compliant, and is rich with colorful and fascinating stories. It is free to enter, and open on weekdays. We are happy we came to learn about this building and its history. We are not from Wyoming, but it was well worth our time."
