What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors love the Carson River Canyon for its natural beauty, opportunities for off-roading, and peaceful river access. It's a great spot for fishing and wildlife viewing, offering a secluded escape. However, some find the rough roads challenging, and there's a concern about irresponsible behavior like shooting and excessive dust from vehicles.
"Google maps wants me to review this location. I only looked up a satellite photo. After watching a YouTube video on an old gold mine. Appearantly the old timers sluice boxes weren't efficient, and gold can be found in the taling pile. Another possibility is that placier gold may be deposited after years of flooding. I live in Florida and will probably try finding gold off the treasure coast."

"Came here last week just to explore offroad and fell in love. Went back again today to hang out by the river. Spotted geese and deer and various other birds too (blue Jay, sparrows, ect). Wish there was overnight camping (not allowed) but a fun area to explore and fish too"

"I love going out here. I can't believe more people don't access this awesome river retreat, but the again, I'm thankful. I can walk or run for miles and sometimes see noone. Be aware that there can be traffic and 4 wheel vehicles sometimes like to stir up the dust. Unfortunately, my recent visit also included running into a group shooting skeet right off of the road. Wish they would have chosen to shoot in sanctioned areas right over the hill.

I visited again today after not being out here all winter. I have to say I was heartbroken and so very disappointed by what I saw, because in spite of the gun range over the hill and the ATV traffic, this is/was a peaceful and starkly beautiful place. Seems like, generally speaking, folks ain't got no respect for nuthin' nowadays."
