What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Cannon Park is a well-loved, free community park in Carlsbad, praised for its updated playground and convenient beach proximity. Families appreciate the safe play areas and open lawn, while visitors enjoy the scenic ocean views. Parking can be a challenge during peak times, and restroom facilities are basic.
"Small, quiet park and playground in Carlsbad, walking distance to the beach.
This is a nice spot that’s set pretty far back from the street. We had a good time running around, playing on the structure.
There’s limited parking on the south end of the park. If you miss the parking and end up going west on the 1, your gonna be stuck on it for awhile because there’s no u-turn spots.
People brought their dogs and had them running off leash. It wasn’t an issue, but be aware. There was a handicap portapotty bathroom, which was in as good of condition as you can imagine, but it was convenient nevertheless.
There’s a basketball court, big field with backstop, and a reasonably sized playground that wasn’t too tall for younger kids. We were in the area and stopped here for a bit, but we would definitely stop by again if we were nearby."

"Cannon park is a great place to go if you want a part beach/part park day or if you need a place for your kiddos to run around before you take them for a stroller jog along the beach. My son had a blast watching the gardeners mow the lawn and care for the grounds which made the park smell like fresh cut grass. He was begging for them to do some more work after they were done.
The park was closed for equipment replacement late May 2021 and I’ve added the new photos here. The smaller play structure, the bicycle bouncer, and the swings are all still the same. The main change was to the larger play structure. The swirly slide isn’t as tall and they added this new wave-looking slide. They also changed out one bicycle bouncer for a four-wheeler, which was a big hit with all the kids!
