I visited the kernville museum and they said gold was mined in these areas- even there sign aside mentioned this was a gold mining area- but silver wasn’t mentioned. I wanted to ask the guide, why this place was called silver city of gold was mined, but he was busy… This place has a ton of potential with all its antiques- I think it just needs to be better displayed.
Hopefully he can offer haunted evening/night tours or get volunteers to dress up in cowboy era clothes and do docent tours. I do plan to return and next time bring a lawn chair and coffee and sketch some of these cool buildings. I was hoping they would have had a souvenir section to buy T-shirts, hats, old fashion Soda, and/or beef jerky."

"Interesting place to visit with unique staff and store of trinkets. Tour was a quick introduction to an abandoned looking run down town of buildings, with lots of old tools and junk all around. The setups in some of the buildings were unexpected creepy and a bit funny. Regarding recommending others, why not? Not much else to do in Bodfish, lol."

Entrance is $7.50, you get a small introduction on the background of the buildings and why this place exists, ask a few questions, then free to explore. There are some inside "exhibits" that look to have been once thought out but may need a bit of maintenance/sprucing up. The buildings are a bit rundown but its a ghost town so it fits the vision for sure. It was great to step in and get a feel for what it may have been like in the mining days of Kern Valley."
