The knowledgeable and passionate docents are a standout feature, making the tours engaging and personalized. While tours are limited to the second Saturday of the month, the affordable admission and rich historical insights make it a highly recommended visit for history enthusiasts.
"The oldest house in Dutchess County and a real local gem! The house dates to the early 1700s and is truly a piece of early Americana with a Dutch Colonial flavor. The docent who gave our tour was fantastic. Very knowledgable, very passionate about the history and quite interesting to listen to. The right pace and the right amount of information. You forget just how much history from the Revolutionary War and even further back exists in the Hudson Valley Region. The tour is offered on the second Saturday of every month from 1-4 and costs $10.00 per adult. Well worth the price of admission. There is also a small gift shop with very inexpensive priced remembrances. Highly recommended if you enjoy old houses or have even a passing interest in early Americana or the history of the Hudson Valley. Mount Gulian, the Van Wyck House, and the Gomez Mill House are all a short distance (just a few miles) from the Madam Brett Homestead. Beacon is a fabulous place to grab a bite with a ton of great eateries and there are two nearby waterfalls, both worth a stop over!"
