We found getting to the belmont house and gardens tricky due to the mostly country roads, single track and quite popular, but once we were there, was pleased to find a decent car park with plenty of space, close to the House.
If you want to just walk around the gardens, I would recommend going during the week when its not busy as you can get away with not paying- however if you want to go into the house, its worth paying for. Clean and tidy toilets next to the tea room, which was also clean and tidy, comfortable and decorated with the old stables theme, which was lovely to see the house still being kept in the original design. The tea room itself offered a nice range of drinks, cakes and food options; we had some tasty ice cream and were happy with the products.
The house and gardens are clearly well maintained with loads of wildlife and plants. It was relaxing to walk around and good to see it supported childrens school trips as well as retired, disabled people who had visited for a day out. I can see the shingle would be challenging for those with wheelchairs etc but actually there was alot of disabled people in the gardens and they seemed happy enough, no huge steps or large steep hills.
I would recommend this place for a cheap, family friendly day out, friend meet up, picnic spot or general outing. I enjoyed my time here!"
