St Peter’s Church is one of the most thoroughly studied parish churches in England, with origins dating back to around 970 CE. Very fascinating church taken over by english Heritage, so now a museum. This one is all about buried bodies which were excavated from the church. Information boards show how the bones are used to investigate the lives of people and why they died. Structure of church is preserved and is a fine example of a Saxon church with its tower. There is information about how this church evolved. A shop, interactive displays and friendly staff also available.Definitely worth a visit."
