"Like Jesmond Dene BUT far less crowded. Darker. More mysterious. More authentic. I followed the National Trust self-guided walk from Holy Dene to Old Hartley (on their website). BUT you can also just follow the sign post for Holywell Dene and go explore. Loved the Fairies / Elves wooden signs near the waterfall. Cute!!! I'm sure there are a number of walks you can do from there (judging from the number of signposts). Cute bridges over the Burn, low trees over the river. Definitely worth a visit."
