"Most beautiful journey takes you along the lake and back again from Llanberis, you can get off on the way back for 5 minutes, or even 15 minutes at the slate museum.
Your tickets will still be valid on a later train if you want to get back on and the guard was really helpful and informative.
Good wheelchair access if you need"

"I have a small fascination about History and mix that with liking Steam railways of both standard size and miniature ones, this place gives it all! (Apart from standard size railway of course haha)
Car park is decent size but If guess during summer it probably fills up well. Was a very nice 35 year old (1990) VW Scirocco parked there on the day we visited.
Price wise it's fairly good for what you get, also it's great if you've maybe got only a morning to use. You can use the railway all day on the same ticket and go back and forth along the route.
The old slate mine is obviously what this place used to be and the railway originally carried slate back from the mine.
But now the very nice carriages that you sit in are comfortable and fairly roomy. It was quite busy when we went.
The little Steam Engine has a lot of guts, maybe small but quite a bit of torque as it would have pulled some weight in the past.
The line takes you around the side of the lake, with just 4 stops. If you get on at the second stop where you get your ticket from, the train back tracks to the first stop to pick people up at the first platform. Then back to the second platform. It then steams it's way around the edge of the lake, with all the smells you'd expect, wood burning and coal dust which will get in your eyes occasionally when the train is stationary. Top tip, don't rub your eyes, it'll only get the dust into your eye more. Moisten your eye with a handkerchief, or a tissue and wipe your eye that way, a dry finger will make it worse.
You can see mountains from the train journey, it's very pretty indeed. Along the route is a platform where you can get off and have a picnic. The train goes up and down the line all day so you'd have time to eat before the train comes back. Each journey typically lasts around an hour from initial boarding to getting off.
If you do get off at the platform towards the end of the line, don't wander to far as the train only sits for 5 minutes before carrying on it's journey, if you miss it, you'll have to wait for it coming back.
The shop is as expected, had the usual trinkets and pieces to buy for memories, the prices aren't megs high but things are not cheap.
Beautiful place, viewed in great Welsh weather, it had rained but stayed dry for our journey. Enjoy!"

Experiencing the Scenery: Llyn Padarn and Beyond
Several stops along the line offer opportunities to disembark and immerse yourself in the surroundings. These platforms are perfect for photography, enjoying a picnic, or simply taking a moment to appreciate the tranquility. This flexibility allows for a more relaxed and personalized experience of the lake at Llanberis and its stunning natural beauty.
Practicalities: Tickets, Timetables, and Tips
