First up you get a fairly comprehensive story of the history of the building from one of the volunteers, which is pretty essential as it builds a real picture of why it is like it is. The story and layered history of its historical uses is fascinating and the building is very beautiful, with some of Gayer Anderson's art collection from around the world. The garden is also beautiful. The smokey smell of the wooden beams upstairs is wonderful. Thanks to all the volunteers who keep this beauty open 7 days a week! £6 for a year's access to this place is great value. A very special place."
