The accessibility of the towers and battlements is a highlight for families, and the scenic coastal walks offer a great way to extend the visit. "Surprisingly good. Really well looked after. You can go up both towers and there a lot left and a lot you can see that shows you how it was used and how they lived. The view to the sea is beautiful and is a great place for a picnic outside the castle. Check it out it's well worth it"

"What an amazing, beautiful, interesting find!!!

We all loved walking around the ruins today and stumbled upon it when looking for a beech to walk on with the kids. That did not go to plan!

But we loved the ruins and spent some time walking around in each part.

And what a view too while up top.

Just simply a must see!!"

"Great castle ruins (free entry, but gates close late afternoon). Large payable carpark. The castle sits on the river Dee and a days March from Chester. The place is Steeped in History. Construction started around 1277 almost straight after King Edwards I began the First Welsh War. Flint was the first castle in a chain of castles built to encircle North Wales and oppress the Welsh. After visiting the ruins, you can walk along the river in either direction. Lovely, scenic walks so you can extend your day for as long as you like. A short walk from the town of Flint, where you can get a bite to eat. Nice afternoon, enjoyed by the children."
