When our Abbey church was built, we sought beauty that would lead hearts to prayer. The artist chosen for our crucifix used a live model to capture every detail of Christ’s sacrifice — the weight, the strain, the love poured out. It’s a reminder that our Lord calls us to lay down our lives, too. Here, in the quiet rhythm of Benedictine life, you can answer that call. #CatholicVocations #Benedictin...

Visitors consistently praise Elstow Abbey for its stunning medieval architecture and rich history, with many highlighting its beauty as a wedding venue. The peaceful atmosphere and the connection to John Bunyan are also frequently mentioned positives. Some visitors note that access to the interior can be limited, especially in the evenings.

"I wasn't able to go inside as I went during the evening. A beautiful looking church & tower. Some ruins to side which look interesting. A very full cemetery, with some headstones that provided some entertaining reading.I'm sure there's some fascinating tales about some of the inhabitants. Parking available & 3 entrances to the substantial grounds.

2 yrs on & I was able to visit inside. Some beautiful stained glass. Here,we can see what an important part John Bunyan played in Christianity. Fascinating brickwork along with corbels. A very historical church, worth a visit."

Diane Chambers

"What can be said, an architectural monument worth seeing, as it seemed to me, it combines Roman and Norman architectural styles. The monumental building in which a feeling of the sublime comes. During the visit, organ music was played, and I would also like to note the welcoming of the rector of the church."

MAM 1274

"I'm a bit biased as I married here. As you can see it's a stunning example of an Abbey that's almost 1000 years old. Beautiful building and it was a stunning setting for ours and many others wedding. The female Vicar (I won't name her here) is lovely. And it's settled in a olde-worlde part of a village, and right next to Moot Hall, birth place of John Bunyan. With the medieval architecture and surroundings it makes for some stunning photos. And wheelchair accessable.

Plus who else gets to say they were married in an Abbey!"
