What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the tranquil beauty of the gardens and the unique, personal experience of touring the historic house with the owner. The 'cottage garden feel' and the owner's engaging stories are frequently highlighted as memorable aspects. While not a full-day attraction, it's cherished for its intimate charm and well-maintained grounds.
"We visited the gardens - during a beautiful, dappled sunshiny afternoon - on September 4th 2024 ...... & were absolutely delighted with the rich tapestry of colourful planting & beautifully maintained landscape that welcomed us. It was like stepping into a favourite painting, but - better than that - it was alive and vibrant with the air of being totally loved & cared-for by the artistic gardeners. We were lucky enough to chat with Rachel, whose enthusiasm for working there shone through in the plants she was tending & were rewarded with a knowledge of plant information we could take home with us. We can honestly say we've never visited a more tranquil & beautifully kept garden & look forward to visiting again when the house is open, too."

"We visited this garden after visiting its near neighbour in Cranbourne and were amazed at the difference. Beautifully kept grounds which include a 12th Century parish church and some wonderful topiary. The walled garden section is beautiful with some flower beds and some kitchen garden use. The gardener was very friendly and very willing to answer questions. Unfortunately the garden is only open Wednesday and Sunday afternoons in the Summer months, but I would recommend a visit."

The house is lived in and you are shown the open rooms by the present owner. I really enjoyed her dry sense of humor and the interesting things She said about her family.
The walled garden was lovely...with a cottage garden feel. The old Apple Trees were amazing.... Really lovely atmosphere in house and gardens."
