Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Zerzevan Castle's historical significance, particularly the well-preserved Mithras Temple and the extensive underground city. The free entry and stunning panoramic views are major draws. Some note that the site can be busy on weekends and requires a good amount of walking on uneven terrain.

"Amazing site that is still being excavated as well as prepared to become a major attraction with modern interpretation centre. Probably soon it will be nominated as UNESCO site (it’s still on the tentative list)."

BARTOSZ Radojewski

"We visited on a Saturday in late May 23. It was busy! Free to enter, lots of parking. A long walk up a steep road to the ancient city awaits, and the final part is a set of actual steps.

But the hike is worth it. The ancient city is split over a reasonably large area, and all information boards are in both Turkish and English.

We enjoyed a çay with one of the wardens before setting out to explore.

Trainers are just fine, take water in the summer (and maybe some shade), and don't forget your camera."

Paul and Karen Blakesley

"Amazing spiritual if you visit the old church underground reminiscent of the lower and older Mithras temple."
