"Works of Mimar Sinan, very cool, yet in need of cleaning in every corner. The government should paid more attention to this mosque. I think, it's second best mosque after Ulucamii in Diyarbakir"

"We wanted to visit the Behram Pasha Mosque during our Diyarbakır tour, but unfortunately, it was closed for restoration. Despite this, the mosque's narthex was magnificently visible through the iron bars. Why not see its architect, the greatest architect of the Ottoman era, Mimar Sinan? Some neighbors told us they'd love to see the inside. Hopefully, we'll visit again after the restoration."

Mimar Sinan's Legacy at Behram Pasha Mosque

The Behram Pasha Mosque stands as a testament to the architectural prowess of Mimar Sinan, the chief imperial architect of the Ottoman Empire. Though perhaps less famous than his Istanbul masterpieces, this mosque is considered a significant work and a 'test structure' in his illustrious career. Reddit Visitors can appreciate the classical Ottoman architectural style that Sinan perfected, characterized by its harmonious proportions and elegant domes. The mosque's construction, spanning from 1564 to 1572, places it within a period of significant Ottoman expansion and architectural innovation. Reddit

One of the most striking elements attributed to Sinan's design is the mosque's double-porched narthex. This spacious, five-domed area, originally designed to accommodate outdoor summer prayers, showcases a thoughtful integration of regional traditions with grand architectural vision. Reddit The use of two distinct colors of stone on the exterior walls, including the facades of the narthex, adds a unique decorative flair, demonstrating Sinan's attention to aesthetic detail. Even when partially obscured by restoration, these architectural elements speak volumes about the craftsmanship and design principles of the era. Reddit
