What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Phuket FantaSea is a grand spectacle offering a unique blend of Thai culture, magic, and entertainment. Visitors often praise the elaborate 'Palace of the Elephants' show and the vibrant Carnival Village. However, some reviews mention that the facilities could be dated and the buffet, while extensive, may not appeal to everyone's taste or budget.
"Small. Nothing interesting except the show. Buffet spread mediocre at it's best. Better to just purchase the show ticket. Have your dinner before going. Show starts at 9pm sharp although there will still be late comers. You need to surrender all phones, cameras and recording devices before entering the arena. Not a necessity to visit though"

"It's my second time at this place. Of course the excitement in the second time is less than the first one. However, it was the first time for my family and they enjoyed the place and the show. They gave us (back back back) seats (balcony seats) and there was a small wall in front of us so we couldn't see the whole theater and that made us upset while we paid the same price as the people whose seats before that small wall. If they made that wall by glass it would be much better. The good thing, I discovered that there is a prayer room and ablution and this good for Muslims who don't like to delay their prayers. Also in general, booking online is cheaper than the sites in most attractions in Phuket."

"Don't order with a meal from the buffet, it's very poor quality.
They take you phones at the entrance of the show itself and filming or taking pictures is perhebited during the show.
The show is nice, for adults can be boaring sometimes, but children will enjoy it, and it's expensive in my opinion (1800-2000 Bat)"

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Consider booking a package that includes the buffet dinner, as it offers a wide variety of food options that can satisfy picky eaters. However, be mindful of the show's length and potential for loud noises or special effects that might be overwhelming for some children. It's a good idea to check reviews or inquire about specific child-friendly aspects before booking.
💑 Couples
Opting for a show-and-dinner package can create a complete evening out. While the buffet is grand, couples might prefer to enjoy a more intimate dinner at one of the many restaurants in Phuket and then attend the FantaSea show for the spectacle. The theatrical performance itself can be a shared, memorable experience.
💰 Budget Travelers
Consider skipping the buffet dinner and dining at local eateries before or after the show to save money. While the FantaSea buffet is extensive, it contributes significantly to the overall cost. Prioritize the show itself as the main attraction if budget is a primary concern.

The Spectacle: Palace of the Elephants
While the show is a visual feast, some reviews suggest that the facility might be showing its age, and the elephant performances have raised ethical concerns for some visitors. It's important to be aware of these perspectives when planning your visit.
Despite any criticisms, the sheer scale and ambition of the 'Palace of the Elephants' make it a unique spectacle that many visitors find unforgettable. It's a significant production that aims to entertain and educate about Thai heritage.
Beyond the Show: Carnival Village & Dining
The dining experience at Phuket FantaSea is centered around a massive buffet, often referred to as one of the largest in Asia. It offers an extensive selection of Thai and international dishes, aiming to cater to a wide range of palates. While the sheer volume of food is impressive, opinions on its quality and value can vary. Some visitors rave about the variety, while others find it overwhelming or suggest that local dining might offer a more authentic experience.
This pre-show entertainment and dining component is a significant part of the overall Phuket FantaSea experience, providing a full evening's entertainment that extends beyond just the theatrical performance.
Comparing FantaSea and Carnival Magic
Phuket FantaSea, on the other hand, leans more into traditional Thai culture and mythology, with its 'Palace of the Elephants' show. Some visitors find FantaSea to be a bit dated in comparison to Carnival Magic, with concerns raised about the condition of the facilities and the ethical implications of animal performances.
Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on personal preference. If you're looking for a more contemporary, high-energy light show, Carnival Magic might be preferred. If you're more interested in a theatrical production that delves into Thai legends with a grand scale, FantaSea could be your choice, keeping in mind the potential drawbacks mentioned by some travelers.
