Planning Your Visit

Timing is Everything for Views

The Elephant Tower is a visual marvel, but the real magic happens from its observation decks. For the best panoramic views of Bangkok, aim for sunset or just after dark when the city lights up. This is when you'll get those iconic shots seen on TikTok.

Book Ahead for the Skywalk

While the tower itself is an architectural feat, the real draw is the outdoor glass tray experience at the top. Tickets for this can sell out, especially during peak hours. Booking online in advance is highly recommended to secure your spot and avoid disappointment.

Reviews Summary

The Elephant Tower (King Power Mahanakhon) is celebrated for its unique architectural design and the breathtaking panoramic views from its skywalk. Visitors rave about the thrilling glass tray experience and the stunning city vistas, especially at sunset and night. While the price is a consideration, most agree it's a worthwhile Bangkok experience.

"I stayed here for around a month and found it to be overall quite pleasant. The room spaces are quite large and spread out, security is good, levels are clean and maintenained nicely.

There's a swimming pool and a gym but for both you'll have to tell the security person sitting there beforehand if you want to go in either before doing so. The building is also neatly designed looking like an actual elephant and all"

Xoom Too

"Please make a new version of this tower, it would be gorgeous, I heard Chatuchak has a new build space available soon."

Jenn Leighton

"Cute building I stumbled Upton while visiting the nearby night market.
Definitely worth a look.
It combines Thai ingenuity with their beloved animal 😊 (and beer 🍺)"

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The Architectural Marvel: More Than Just an Elephant

The Elephant Tower, officially known as the King Power Mahanakhon, is far more than just a quirky facade. Designed by Ole Scheeren, its distinctive pixelated exterior is a deliberate architectural choice, creating a visual disruption of the building's smooth surfaces. This design isn't just for show; it allows for the creation of large, open-air terraces and balconies on the upper floors, offering unique outdoor spaces with incredible city views. The building's transformation from a conventional skyscraper into this iconic, elephant-like structure is a testament to innovative urban design. It stands as a modern symbol of Bangkok, blending traditional Thai motifs with cutting-edge architecture. TikTok

Conquering the Skywalk: Thrills and Views

The Mahanakhon Skywalk is the main attraction for most visitors, offering an unforgettable experience high above the bustling city. Accessed via one of the world's fastest elevators, the journey to the 74th floor is an experience in itself. From here, you can enjoy panoramic 360-degree views of Bangkok. However, the real adrenaline rush comes from the outdoor glass tray on the 78th floor. Standing on this transparent platform, 296 meters (971 feet) above the ground, with the city spread out beneath your feet, is a truly exhilarating and slightly terrifying experience. It's a popular spot for photos and a must-do for thrill-seekers. TikTok
