What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for Rifugio Jean-Antoine Carrel are mixed, with some visitors finding it a necessary but basic stop for Matterhorn ascents, while others criticize its cleanliness and price. The ongoing renovations add another layer of uncertainty regarding current facilities and accessibility.
"Dirty and overpriced. I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel but for 30 euros per night, i hoped that at least the toilet will be clean. I also don't understand why they throw all the stuff from the toilet down the mountain. While going up we've met pieces of st and toilet paper. But it is conveniently put at the beginning of the route to Matterhorn. Without it the climb would be a lot longer in one push."

"Great place to stay before going to matterhorn. There is electricity, toilet, snow water (if there is snow around the place), some gas left by previous travelers. First come, first take place. you need only sleeping bag, there may be free blankets and pillows. 20 euros is the average cost of night but you can pay what you want."
Alexandra Kolesova
"Don't be as stupid as I was and come here now, cause there is a construction site. Apparently there is a sign but I didn't see it. +50 moron points to my account."
