What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Chateau de Bossey is praised for its stunning location, regal historical architecture, and peaceful atmosphere, offering a welcome escape from city life. However, some guests find the rooms small and lacking amenities, and the limited reception hours can be inconvenient. The journey via public transport is also noted as challenging.
"Absolutely wonderful! This repurposed property still maintains its regal palace feeling. It was built as a private castle but is now serving as a center of interfaith dialogue and a reasonable quality accomodation option in the greater Geneva area. Very interesting historical architecture that has been modernized in a respectful manner. Perfect getaway from the overcrowded and overpriced city life. Quiet and peaceful country roads that stroll through the local towns and farmlands. 3 meals get served every day although only breakfast is free. Plenty of parking and a beautiful view of the lake."

"It’s a beautiful location away from the city. And nice picturesque garden and building. Staff was very nice and friendly as well. But few thing to improve is the room was very small and I felt like it’s harder to stay inside in warm days. (Less ventilation) also the reception closes around 7-8 evening and after that you cannot have a drink or anything because the coffee machine in the restaurant area needs a tag to operate. Also no way to check or request anything after reception closes. Rooms doesn’t have any tea/coffe station or drinking water . So it’s inconvenient. Other thing is if you are going there you need a car. There is a shortcut from Celingy , Village , but it’s really complicated and harder to find. I ended up in the nearby cemetery twice. Later found the footpaths and the bridge, which is way scary . I actually thought of going back to Geneva and book another hotel 😂 I will they Atleast had signs/directions on this road. (I have attached a picture , follow the arrow to find the footpath) I hope this would help .overall I felt like the amount we paid for the room were not matching."

"Chateau de Bossey is a hidden gem in the Geneva region. An hour train journey from Geneva.
A peaceful place to stay surrounded by nature and with a view of Geneva Lake. Calm, clean, Friendly staff, a photogenic and relaxing place.
When you're travelling by public transport, from Coppet you'll have to take a bus to Celigny village and from there you'll have to walk 1 Km. If you follow the Google map, you'll end up at a dead end near a cemetery. You should take the road next to the cemetery to reach the Hotel. Also, it's a mud road, and it'll be very difficult if you have luggage. So, I highly recommend taking a taxi from Coppet station to the Hotel unless you want to experience a scary journey.
The reception is closed at 1800, no hospitality tray in the room. You have to go to the lunch area to get a coffee or hot water, and ask the receptionist to unlock the coffee machine. Which is a bit inconvenient. It's an institute turned to be a Hotel.
A good place for a short stay, but not worth the money if you're planning for a long stay.
However, We had a memorable stay with my family."

Navigating to Chateau de Bossey: A Traveler's Tale
For those who do opt for the walk, specific advice suggests taking the road next to the cemetery to find the correct footpath. However, even this path can be muddy and challenging. The lack of clear signage on these routes has been a recurring point of feedback. Therefore, meticulous planning and perhaps confirming directions with the chateau staff beforehand are advisable if you intend to use public transport and walk. The reward for this effort, however, is a serene countryside setting away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Room Comforts and Service Hours at Chateau de Bossey
Service hours are another aspect to consider. The reception typically closes around 7-8 PM, which means that after this time, access to services like the coffee machine in the restaurant area becomes restricted. Operating the coffee machine often requires a tag, and there's no provision for checking in or requesting assistance once reception is closed. This setup, stemming from its nature as an institute adapted for lodging, means guests need to be proactive in meeting their needs before the evening closure. While the chateau provides a unique historical setting and a peaceful environment, these practical considerations are important for managing expectations and ensuring a comfortable stay.
