"It is a tall, round tower built on a circular plan, the last remaining part of the former Castell de Pals, a castle whose existence is documented as far back as the year 889. This fortification was completely destroyed during the Catalan civil wars in the 14th and 15th centuries, and stones from the ruins were later reused in the reconstruction of the local church and nearby houses.
Towering over the old town of Pals, the Torre de les Hores (Tower of the Hours) stands 15 meters high and 7 meters in diameter. Its name comes from the clock that was installed on the belfry added to the top of the tower in the 15th century.
