The building was acquired by Pals City Council and converted into the "Pals Museum and Cultural Center." The building is included in the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia. The building's rectangular floor plan is typical of the era, while its square towers add a defensive and imposing presence. The semicircular arched doorway is a notable Gothic detail that draws the eye.

Despite undergoing significant restoration after being burned during the First Carlist War in 1833 and further alterations in the 1970s, the essence of its historical architecture has been preserved. The acquisition and conversion by the Pals City Council into a museum and cultural center have ensured its continued relevance and accessibility for visitors interested in historical buildings.

From Farmhouse to Cultural Hub

The transformation of Ca la Pruna from a 16th-century fortified farmhouse into the 'Pals Museum and Cultural Center' is a story of preservation and community engagement. Originally a Masiá Illa, it served its purpose as a dwelling and likely a center for agricultural activities.

Its turbulent history, including being burned in 1833, led to periods of disrepair. However, the Pals City Council's decision to acquire and restore the building in the 1970s was pivotal. This initiative not only saved a significant piece of architectural heritage but also repurposed it to serve the modern community.

Today, Ca la Pruna hosts various activities and exhibitions, making it a dynamic space that bridges the past and present. This ensures that the building remains a vibrant part of Pals, offering cultural enrichment and a deeper understanding of the region's history and artistic expressions.
