What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests praise the Palacio de los Marqueses de la Gomera for its stunning 18th-century building, magical ambiance, and excellent central location for exploring Osuna. However, some find the breakfast selection limited and advise researching local dining options. Room layouts in attic suites can be impractical for some.
"Fantastic palace hotel with stunning rooms and decor. Felt magical. Easy to walk to town’s attractions. Only issue is local restaurants tend to be on the rude side for lunch. Read my notes in comments. The diners the hotel booked are nice but food is average Spanish nothing special and pricy. Would research the food and try maybe non Spanish restaurants. The breakfast needs more selection on hot items. If you come late the eggs are cold. Staff is nice and location is amazing. Recommend for a few nights stay to get the feel for the town. It’s beautiful"

"Great place to stay if you visit Osuna. However, poor breakfast. Better get to a nearby place; plenty of them. It is really well located."

"A short overnight visit to Osuna on the way to the Malaga Airport. Really like this small town. The streets are so beautiful. The hotel is a quiet and friendly hotel. The staff we only saw one girl she works all day she is very friendly. We like her. The room is old European style, not our type. The window can’t be opened it’s locked We are in two single beds room. The price is very reasonable. The ground floor and the hall way is amazing."

The Historic Building and Its Charm
However, the charm of a historic building also comes with its quirks. Some guests have noted that the rooms can vary significantly, with attic suites sometimes featuring narrow staircases and split-level bathrooms that might not be practical for everyone, especially older guests. While the building's historical significance is a major draw, potential visitors with mobility concerns should communicate their needs clearly when booking to ensure a comfortable stay.
Despite these considerations, the hotel's commitment to preserving its historical character is evident. The hallways and common areas are often highlighted as being particularly impressive. For those who appreciate history and unique architectural settings, the Palacio de los Marqueses de la Gomera offers an unforgettable experience that goes beyond a typical hotel stay.
Dining Experiences: Hotel vs. Local
The breakfast at the hotel also receives mixed feedback. Some find it adequate, while others point out a limited selection of hot items, especially if arriving later in the morning, leading to cold eggs. This has prompted some guests to recommend seeking breakfast at nearby cafes for a wider variety and potentially better quality.
For those looking to explore Osuna's culinary scene, there are numerous local restaurants. However, a word of caution from a reviewer: some local restaurants might be perceived as rude for lunch. It's advisable to do some research or ask for recommendations to find the best dining spots that offer both good food and a welcoming atmosphere. Exploring non-Spanish restaurants might also offer a refreshing change.
