Visitors consistently praise Bodegas Lustau for its spectacular 'cathedral-like' architecture and the high quality of its sherries and vermouths. The guided tours are highlighted as informative and engaging, offering a comprehensive tasting experience from dry to sweet styles. "High quality sherries from the Cathedral of fortified wines. I like the way the tour is structured, walking from one sherry style area to the next and tasting each in turn.
Very informative guide and plenty to taste going from dry to sweet styles. Also a Vernouth at the end. The Bodega itself is spectacular inside with it's arches and high ceilings and a long history to match it's very good produce. Would definitely recommend this if your looking for a special experience.
Parking is on the street outside, about 1.20 euro for 90 minutes."

"Had a very interesting tour from Isabella in this place.
The tour felt kind of scripted, a few questions outside the script were sidestepped or ignored.
In the shop afterward we bought a few bottles but weren't able to try the red vermouth before buying it (with a simple "tasting is finished") so we didn't"
Tijs Van Kampen
"We took today's 3pm tour with Isabelle, who was outstanding ! We were fortunate in being a small group of 8, so there was lots of scope for questions & interaction. We've loved sherry & Manzanilla for years, but still learnt a great deal. It is an amazing collection of buildings, & the perfect retreat from the heat! My only regret is we are flying with just carry-on so couldn't take advantage of the 10% discount in the shop."

The Art of Sherry Production at Lustau
The aging process is central to Sherry production, utilizing the traditional solera and criadera system. This involves a fractional blending system where younger wines are introduced to older wines in a series of barrels, ensuring consistency and complexity. Lustau's bodegas, often described as 'cathedral-like' due to their impressive architecture, provide the ideal cool and stable environment for this meticulous aging process.
Visitors to Bodegas Lustau can witness this tradition firsthand. Tours often guide guests through different sections dedicated to various Sherry styles, from the crisp and dry Fino and Manzanilla to the richer Amontillado, Oloroso, and the intensely sweet Pedro Ximénez. The experience is not just educational but also a sensory journey, culminating in a tasting that highlights the distinct character of each wine.
Exploring Lustau's Vermouths and Other Offerings
Beyond vermouth, Lustau also produces Brandy de Jerez, a spirit deeply rooted in the region's winemaking heritage. Their Brandy de Jerez Solera Gran Reserva is aged using the traditional solera system, resulting in a smooth, rich, and nuanced brandy that reflects the character of the oak barrels and the long aging process. This demonstrates Lustau's expertise extends beyond sherry, encompassing other traditional Spanish spirits.
Lustau also champions the concept of En Rama sherries, which are bottled with minimal filtration and stabilization, offering a more intense and authentic expression of the wine as it ages in the barrel. These limited releases are highly sought after by connoisseurs for their vibrant character and direct connection to the aging environment.
