On our visit to Guadix, we arrived at the Palace of the Marquises of Villalegre. Next to the main façade, there is an inscription that reads:
"...the building was built throughout the 16th century. ...its powerful façade, carved in brick on an ashlar base. It is flanked by wide towers. The walls of the other three façades are the characteristic brick-banded coffered ceilings. The lintelled doorway and the enormous coat of arms, together with the balcony, carved in stone, give it the necessary air of stately dignity...""

"The Villalegre Palace was a 16th-century palatial building belonging to the Fernández de Córdoba family. Later, it became a Civil Guard barracks and now serves various municipal purposes, including a music conservatory.
