"wonderful view. you can park there and admire the amazing view. you can see all the way to the ocean on one side or the old capital betancuria. it is quite windy. there are also 2 statues with their kings and a panel telling the history of the place"

luciana toma

"Very interesting view point and a piece of a Canary Islands history. Large viewing terrace overlooking the landscape on one side and a two impressive metal sculptures of Guise and Ayose. A few parking spaces on both sides of the road available , there is not much to walk, you probably spend there approx. 20-30 min. The point is located almost between the two turnes, so it is quite tricky to drive out as you have to watch out both directions and it's quite inconvenient. I was lucky to have my partner to make sure the road is free 😊."

Angelika Zygiert

"Impressive artwork. Statues of the two ancient kings of Fuerteventura, Guise & Ayose. Quick stop to say hello & enjoy the view on our way to Betancuria."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The Legend of Guise and Ayose

Mirador de Guise y Ayose is named after the two legendary kings who ruled Fuerteventura in the 15th century, before the Castilian conquest. Guise governed the northern kingdom of Maxorata, while Ayose ruled the southern kingdom of Jandía. These kingdoms were separated by a defensive wall, believed to have been located near the current viewpoint. The imposing bronze statues, standing nearly four meters tall, represent these ancient rulers and serve as a powerful reminder of the island's pre-Hispanic history. TikTokInstagram

These figures are central to Fuerteventura's identity, symbolizing a time of independent governance and distinct cultural regions on the island. The viewpoint offers not just a scenic panorama but also a tangible connection to this rich past, making it a significant historical landmark. Reddit

Visiting the mirador provides an opportunity to reflect on the island's transformation and the stories embedded in its landscape. It's a place where history and natural beauty converge, offering a unique perspective on Fuerteventura's heritage.

Navigating the Scenic FV-30

The FV-30 is more than just a road; it's a gateway to the heart of Fuerteventura's rugged interior. This scenic route winds through dramatic volcanic landscapes, offering numerous viewpoints and access to charming historical towns like Betancuria. Driving this road is an experience in itself, with its sweeping curves and ever-changing vistas. TikTok+1

As you travel along the FV-30, you'll encounter several other notable viewpoints, such as Mirador de Morro Velosa and Mirador de Las Peñitas, each offering a different perspective of the island's unique topography. The road can be narrow and winding in places, so it's advisable to drive cautiously and take your time to enjoy the journey. InstagramReddit

Mirador de Guise y Ayose is strategically located along this route, making it an ideal stop to break up your drive, stretch your legs, and soak in the historical and natural beauty of central Fuerteventura. The drive itself is a significant part of the Fuerteventura experience, showcasing its wild and untamed character.

Capturing the Essence: Photography at the Mirador

Mirador de Guise y Ayose is a photographer's delight, offering a blend of striking sculptures and expansive natural beauty. The two colossal bronze statues of Guise and Ayose provide a powerful foreground element, especially when framed against the dramatic Fuerteventura landscape. Their imposing presence adds a sense of scale and historical gravitas to any shot. TikTokInstagram

The panoramic views from the mirador are equally captivating. On clear days, you can see the rugged mountains, arid valleys, and often the distant glint of the ocean. This makes it an excellent location for landscape photography, capturing the vastness and raw beauty of the island. Consider using a wide-angle lens to encompass the full sweep of the scenery. TikTok

For the best photographic results, aim for the 'golden hour' during sunrise or sunset when the light is soft and warm, casting long shadows and enhancing the textures of the landscape and sculptures. Even on a cloudy day, the dramatic skies can add a moody atmosphere to your photos. Remember to also capture the informative historical panel, adding a narrative layer to your visual story.
