"Visiting this museum was one of the highlights of our trip to Fuerteventura. Nestled in a serene spot with sweeping views of the island's desert landscape, the setting alone is worth the visit — vast, open, and truly spectacular, it gives you a real sense of the island’s raw natural beauty.

Inside, the museum offers a fascinating look at one of Fuerteventura's most iconic traditions: goat cheese making. The exhibits are both informative and engaging, showcasing the entire process from traditional methods to modern techniques. You can see how the cheese is made, learn about the importance of goats to the local culture, and even sample some of the freshest and most delicious goat cheese we’ve ever tasted.

It’s a perfect mix of education, culture, and natural beauty. Whether you're a foodie, a history buff, or simply looking to explore something unique and authentic, this museum delivers a genuine taste of the island in more ways than one."

"I wasn't disappointed but the exhibition need to be maintained a little better.

The museum is largely in Spanish and English but you can scan a qr code to get other translations. There is currently no option for English through the qr code.
There are a couple of sections where the Spanish has not been translated, just written in spanish again, and a couple of sections where wording has been picked off, so it's hard to know what the section says.

There were at least 5 screens that weren't working, which is pretty poor form.

You can buy a taster of cheese at the end but this is almost as expensive as the tour again and there isn't an option to buy both together and get a discount that im aware of.

The cactus garden is nice and the terrace has a pretty view."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The Art of Majorero Cheese

Museo del Queso Majorero is dedicated to Fuerteventura's most famous culinary export: Majorero cheese. This unique cheese is made from the milk of the indigenous Majorera goat, a breed perfectly adapted to the island's arid climate. The museum delves into the traditional methods of cheese production, from milking the goats to the aging process. You'll learn about the importance of the volcanic soil and the island's flora in shaping the cheese's distinctive flavor profile. TikTok+1

While the exhibits provide a good overview, some visitors note that translations can be limited, and certain displays might require maintenance. Nevertheless, the core information about the cheese-making process and the cultural significance of this delicacy is well-presented. The opportunity to taste the cheese, though an additional cost, is highly recommended for a true sensory experience. Reddit

Beyond the cheese itself, the museum highlights the integral role of the Majorera goat in the island's economy and culture. It's a fascinating glimpse into a tradition that has sustained Fuerteventura for generations, offering a delicious connection to the island's heritage.

A Glimpse into Fuerteventura's Past: The Molino de Antigua

The restored Molino de Antigua stands as a proud testament to Fuerteventura's agricultural history. For centuries, the island was known as the 'granary of the Canary Islands,' with crops like wheat, millet, and barley being central to its economy. TikTok This windmill was crucial for grinding these grains into gofio, a staple food for the islanders. Visiting the Molino offers a tangible connection to this past, allowing you to imagine the hard work and ingenuity involved in sustaining life on the island. TikTok

The windmill is not just a historical artifact; it's an integral part of the museum's landscape and charm. Its presence adds an authentic atmosphere to the site, and it's a popular spot for photography. The structure itself, often built with local stone, reflects the traditional architecture of the region. TikTok

While the primary focus of the museum is cheese, the inclusion of the Molino de Antigua provides a broader context of Fuerteventura's heritage. It reminds visitors that the island's identity is shaped by both its agricultural traditions and its unique culinary products, creating a richer and more comprehensive visitor experience.

The Oasis of the Cactus Garden

Complementing the cheese and history, the Museo del Queso Majorero boasts a surprisingly diverse and beautifully curated cactus garden. Against the backdrop of Fuerteventura's often stark volcanic landscape, this garden is a vibrant splash of green and a haven for unique plant species. TikTokReddit+1

Visitors often rave about the charm and meticulous arrangement of the garden. It's a delightful place to stroll, offering a peaceful escape and a chance to admire the resilience and variety of desert flora. The garden provides a different kind of sensory experience, with interesting textures and forms to discover. TikTok

This green oasis adds another layer to the museum's appeal, making it more than just a cheese exhibition. It showcases the island's biodiversity and the efforts made to preserve its natural beauty.
