Braamfontein Cemetery, Johannesburg - Platans street in Erechim/RS. Autumn. Winter is coming.
I live in this town for 3 years and it´s the first time I´m able to see this street in the beggining of Fall. Took this picture trying to make the "tunnel" with a great depth of field.

. . Friends of Johannesburg Cemeteries A purple carpet over Braamfontein, our oldest cemetery still standing in Johannesburg. Burials started here in about 1888 when the tiny cemetery in the centre of town filled up. Bodies from that cemetery were later reinterred here. This section is full of mainly Cornishmen who came out to mine here during a dark period for mining back in Cornwall, Engla...

A special thank you to the volunteers that responded to our appeal for help at Braamfontein Cemetery. We had another fabulous turnout and have just about done all the recording needed to put the plaques back. Everyone worked with such a will, it was heart-warming. Next, we will spend time with the cremation registers to look up thousands of names and which niche they were laid to rest in.
