Reviews Summary
Gondwana Game Reserve is overwhelmingly praised for its stunning landscapes, abundant wildlife, and exceptional guiding. Guests consistently highlight the warmth and friendliness of the staff, the quality of accommodation, and the delicious food. While most experiences are unforgettable, a few minor service hiccups and suggestions for food variety have been noted.
"We had such an amazing time at Gondwana! The setting is absolutely beautiful and picturesque, with wildlife roaming freely across a wonderfully diverse landscape. Our guide, Therine, was incredible – her passion for the park’s flora and fauna was contagious. She not only taught us so much about the behaviour and lives of the Big Five, but also drew our attention to the smaller animals and plants that make the ecosystem so special.
Everyone we met – from the reception team to the restaurant staff and housekeeping – was genuinely warm and friendly. The food was excellent, with à la carte options including vegetarian and even vegan dishes (the vegan omelette was fantastic!).
We stayed in a Kwena Lodge on the main property – beautifully maintained, freshly renovated, and blending perfectly into the surrounding landscape. The pool area was lovely and offered great views. The park itself is teeming with wildlife: various antelope species, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, and of course the Big Five. We saw them all except for the leopard! There were many rhinos with calves during our visit, which was truly special to see.
One of the highlights was enjoying our morning bush coffee while watching giraffes feed just a few metres away. Seeing hippos in the water and standing in the middle of a herd of grazing buffalo was equally unforgettable.
Overall, it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. We can wholeheartedly recommend Gondwana – it’s worth every cent, and you’ll leave with memories for a lifetime."

"My family and I had a wonderful time at Gondwana Game Reserve. The place is absolutely stunning and vast — we saw so many animals and enjoyed driving around to spot them one by one. I especially want to highlight how amazing our tour guide, Gerrit, was. He was incredibly patient with all of our questions and showed such kindness to my son, who was thrilled to be a Junior Ranger. My son had an unforgettable time and hasn’t stopped talking about his new friend, Gerrit!
We stayed at the Lehele Family Villa, which was simply beautiful. The interiors were lovely, the beds had warmers (a wonderful touch!), and the space was so generous that all nine of us felt perfectly comfortable.
Thank you, Gondwana Private Game Reserve, for an unforgettable experience!"

"The reserve leaves nothing to be desired. We stayed as a couple in Villa RR 26, which was very clean, well maintained, and thoroughly checked for animals (spiders, snakes, etc.). Our guide Soni was absolutely the best – his love for animals is clear, and it shows that this is not just a job for him. He truly lives and feels the safaris. We saw all the animals, enjoyed stunning views, and learned a lot thanks to his great knowledge. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Breakfast was served à la carte, lunch was a 3-course menu of your choice, and dinner also a 3-course menu with various options. Meals can even be delivered to the villa. In the evening, the staff made sure everything was checked again, the heated blanket in the bed was turned on, and the curtains were closed – such thoughtful details. This reserve really leaves nothing to be desired and is perfect if you want to see all the animals. I can highly recommend it!"
