What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the picturesque beauty of Piran Lighthouse and its stunning coastal setting, often comparing it to the Italian Riviera. The charming old town, friendly locals, and delicious food are frequently highlighted as major draws. However, some find parking and crowds to be significant challenges during peak times.
"Beautiful place to sit and watch the world go by with a nice cold drink. Lots of choice for restaurants and bars."

"The lighthouse is located at the tip of the peninsula on which the town of Piran lies, which in turn is part of the greater Istrian peninsula on the Adriatic sea.
It is built on a defensive tower that was part of the Venetian walls, probably on the 16th or 17th centuries. The tower is built of sandstone and this is the only structural element. It is also peculiar that it's adjacent to a church, the Church of Our Lady of Health. Both are undergoing refurbishment works in the spring of 2025.
Until 1976, it was inhabited by a lighthouse keeper and his family, who had an important task - to light a large kerosene lamp and thus warn sailors that the tide was low on the Piran cape. The current lighthouse, which is placed higher than its predecessor, is operated by electricity. It is located at an altitude of 12 meters and has a visibility of 11 nautical miles. The building represents the only stone lighthouse of its kind on the Slovenian coast."
