What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Bled Lakeside Trail for its breathtaking, postcard-perfect views, calling it a must-see in Slovenia. The challenging climbs to the viewpoints are rewarded with unforgettable panoramas. However, some find the steepness of the viewpoint paths demanding, and parking can be a hassle.
"Picture perfect views! This is the first view point, couldn’t continue to the top as my kids were very tired after the long walk from the car park too. But I believe the highest viewpoint would give much broader views of the whole Julian Alps"

"A Picture-Perfect Hike with a Dash of Challenge!
Visited Lake Bled in early July, and oh, what a gem it is! Kicking off the day with some kayaking on its glassy waters, gazing at the quaint church on the island, felt like stepping into a postcard. But the real adventure truly began on foot!
My hike around the lake spanned about 5.13 miles (approx. 8.25 km) over 1 hour and 50 minutes, involving a surprising 911 feet (approx. 277.7 m) of elevation gain. Some sections were remarkably steep, with inclines up to 75 degrees – quite reminiscent of the Amalfi Coast's famed Pontone trails! As I thought to myself, "The views were as lovely as a fairy tale, but the climb was definitely no joke!"
Despite the effort, the majestic natural beauty embracing the lake rewarded every single step. It was inspiring to see everyone, young and old, enjoying the hike, even under the warm summer sun.
Quick Tip for Fellow Explorers!
Due to parking time limits, I couldn't complete the entire loop, much to my chagrin. To save myself a roughly 30-minute walk, I opted for an Uber (10.80 euros well spent!) to get back to the car. A gentle reminder that time truly flies when you're having fun! Nevertheless, Lake Bled's overwhelming beauty is etched in my memory. Don't miss it!"

Many visitors opt to walk the entire loop, enjoying the changing perspectives of the lake, the island, and the surrounding alpine scenery. The trail is well-trodden, but can be uneven in places, so sturdy footwear is highly recommended. The journey around the lake is as much about the destination as it is about the experience of immersing yourself in the natural Slovenian landscape. Remember to bring water and snacks, as amenities directly on the trail are scarce.
For those seeking the most dramatic views, the climb to the higher viewpoints is absolutely essential. While it requires more effort, the reward is unparalleled. The panoramic shots you can capture from these vantage points are truly unforgettable and are a highlight for most visitors.
Capturing the Magic: Photography Tips
When hiking the trail, experiment with different angles. Close-ups of the water's reflections, the charming 'pletna' boats, and the quaint architecture of the island church can create compelling compositions. Don't forget to capture the details of the surrounding nature – the lush forests and the clear blue water. Many visitors find that a wide-angle lens is beneficial for capturing the expansive landscapes, but even a good smartphone camera can produce stunning results.
Consider visiting before sunrise for a truly unique experience. The mist rising from the lake, combined with the soft dawn light, can create an ethereal and dramatic scene. Remember to be patient; sometimes the perfect shot requires waiting for the light to change or for a 'pletna' boat to pass by, adding to the charm of the scene.
