What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally praise Bird Paradise for its stunning aviaries and up-close encounters with diverse bird species. The immersive experience and engaging shows are highlights. However, some find the ticket prices to be on the higher side, and the park can get quite hot and humid, especially during peak hours.
"A worthwhile experience for young children to learn about birds. The previous bird shows I experienced in my younger days are better. The walk-in aviary is worth a visit. Unless you spend time at "birds at play" for the children, the visit can be about 2-3 hours."
Welvin Lim
"Nice place to see lots of types of birds. Very educational trip indeed. We choose to walk instead of taking the tram. The staffs are friendly, helpful, courteous and attentive. Not forgetting the beautiful waterfall and the garden like landscaping everywhere inside the park. Love it!"
Din Neo
"A lot of people especially on weekends. The park is closing in a few weeks (and new one will be opened) so recommend to come here soon. For the bird park it is okay to just visit once in a while since attractions barely change. Catch the bird show at the amphitheatre because it's free and interesting; however, be sure to take note of the timea of the bird show so as to not miss it. Taking the tram is also okay but the tram moves quite fast and it is difficult to take good photos, so would rather get on your feet and walk around the park instead. Some parts of the tram track are also obscured by vegetation so it is difficult o see the birds. The main attraction of course would be the waterfall, which is also worth it to check out. Finally there is also a water play park for young children although this is usually very crowded during the weekend. Be sure to bring mosquito repellent as there are a lot of mosquitoes."

The Evolution: From Jurong Bird Park to Bird Paradise
The transition to Bird Paradise is part of a larger vision for the Mandai precinct, which aims to create a world-class wildlife destination. By co-locating Bird Paradise with the Singapore Zoo, River Wonders, and Night Safari, visitors can enjoy a more seamless experience when planning multi-day trips. This strategic relocation also allows for enhanced conservation efforts and research opportunities for the park's diverse bird population.
While the name and location have changed, the core mission of celebrating and conserving birds remains. Bird Paradise continues to house a vast collection of species, from the vibrant parrots and macaws to the charming penguins, all presented in habitats designed to mimic their natural environments. The park emphasizes education and conservation, encouraging visitors to learn about the importance of avian biodiversity and the threats many species face.
Maximizing Your Visit: Time & Itinerary
For those looking to combine their visit, Bird Paradise is conveniently located within the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, alongside the Singapore Zoo, River Wonders, and Night Safari. Many visitors opt to visit Bird Paradise and the Singapore Zoo on the same day, or Bird Paradise and River Wonders. This can be done by starting early at Bird Paradise, having lunch, and then heading to another park. However, be mindful of the heat and the sheer amount of walking involved. Some suggest that trying to do all four Mandai parks in one day might be too ambitious for most, especially with children.
When planning your itinerary, prioritize the shows you want to see, as their timings are fixed. The Lory Loft feeding session is also a popular activity that requires a bit of planning. If you find yourself with extra time and energy, consider purchasing a ticket for another Mandai park to extend your wildlife adventure.
Photography Tips for Bird Lovers
Within the walk-through aviaries, take advantage of the natural light filtering through the foliage. While flash photography is generally discouraged to avoid disturbing the birds, some areas might have dimmer lighting, requiring a higher ISO setting on your camera. If you have a telephoto lens, it can be invaluable for capturing details of birds perched higher up or in more distant enclosures. Remember to be patient; the best shots often come from waiting for the perfect moment.
Beyond the birds themselves, don't forget to capture the vibrant habitats and the overall atmosphere of Bird Paradise. The lush greenery, water features, and architectural elements of the aviaries provide beautiful backdrops. Consider shooting during the golden hours (early morning or late afternoon) for softer light and more dramatic effects. Always be respectful of the wildlife and follow any park guidelines regarding photography.
