Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the world-class infrastructure and the breathtaking views of the Kaaba from the observation deck, calling it a must-visit for its unique perspective and spiritual ambiance. However, some reviews highlight concerns about inconsistent service and a perceived double standard in staff treatment towards non-local visitors, alongside remarks about the museum's exhibits not appealing to everyone.

"Giving all the stars for the infrastructure and the details. The place was well elaborated and extremely high end, it's a must visit for someone who's more into clock related science and astronomy. For a layman, it's also a wonder to watch all the minute details they have enlisted. Amazing place, but there's another review of how they treat the 'non-locals' and I would second to it because yes, they were super distant and reserved from us and weren't guiding at all, except they told my child to keep quite when he was just trying to say that he saw a big ball (the sun) in the hallway out of excitement. Do better guys, the place is amazing though. Also, it's on the 9th floor, and there's a lift with the black door from the third floor, that leads you there. Couldn't find any clear signboards so yeah it was difficult to get there."

"World-Class Exhibition, Shocking Double Standards in Service

The exhibition space is undeniably world-class: cutting-edge infrastructure, meticulously curated displays, and an atmosphere that educates and inspires. Every corner reflects a commitment to quality, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in the subject matter.

Sadly, the behavior of the staff from cleaners and museum guides to security personnel ruined the experience. There was a stark contrast in how they interacted with Saudi locals versus how they treated us as Indonesians. While staff engaged Saudi visitors warmly, offering help and smiling freely, their demeanor shifted entirely when addressing us. Cleaners scold us with an impolite attitude and intonation, guides gave rushed explanations , and security personnel spoke in a curt, dismissive tone. This pattern of unequal treatment was impossible to ignore and felt deeply dehumanizing.

A venue of this prestige should uphold respect for all guests, regardless of nationality. It’s disheartening to see such blatant double standards among staff. I urge management to investigate this cultural bias and implement mandatory sensitivity training. The exhibition’s brilliance deserves service that matches its standards."

"One of the best experiences we've had during Ramadan! The view is absolutely amazing, offering an open view of the whole city. With over 1.2 million visitors, it’s truly a premium location that lives up to its reputation. The VIP service was exceptional, and we felt well taken care of throughout our visit. A small note: the sushi wasn’t as fresh as we hoped, but honestly, it didn’t take away from the overall experience, which was so remarkable. Iftar reservations are a must, as it can get quite busy. In addition to the unique experience in the museum, you’ll find yourself continuously surprised during your visit with all the exciting elements it has to offer. The team was incredibly welcoming, and their hospitality made the experience even more special. Highly recommend this place for an unforgettable time!"

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The Iconic Makkah Clock Tower

The Makkah Royal Clock Tower, part of the Abraj Al-Bait complex, stands as a colossal landmark adjacent to the Grand Mosque. It's not just a building; it's a symbol of modern Islamic architecture and a testament to engineering prowess. Standing as one of the world's tallest buildings, its most striking feature is the enormous clock faces on each of its four sides, visible from miles away. These clocks are not merely decorative; they are functional timepieces that broadcast the call to prayer, adding a spiritual dimension to their presence. The tower's design incorporates traditional Islamic motifs, blending seamlessly with its contemporary stature. TikTok

The museum and viewing deck are situated on the upper floors, offering visitors a unique perspective on both the city and the history of timekeeping. The journey to the top involves navigating through the complex's internal systems, often utilizing specific lifts that ascend to the museum's level. While the exterior is a marvel, the interior experience is designed to educate and inspire, focusing on the scientific and historical aspects of time and celestial observation. TikTok+1

Visitors often describe the experience as a blend of awe at the sheer scale of the structure and the spiritual significance of its location. The views from the observation deck are consistently praised as breathtaking, providing an unparalleled vantage point over the Kaaba and the bustling city of Makkah. It's a place where architectural grandeur meets profound religious importance, offering a memorable experience for pilgrims and tourists alike. TikTokReddit

Taxis and ride-sharing services typically drop visitors at basement level -2 of the Abraj Al-Bait complex. From there, you'll need to find the specific lift with a black door, usually located on the third floor, which ascends to the museum on the 9th floor. This can be a point of confusion for first-time visitors, so paying attention to directions and asking for assistance is recommended. Reddit

Once inside, the museum offers a journey through astronomy and timekeeping. While the exhibits are meticulously curated and the infrastructure is world-class, some visitors find the content more suited to those with a specific interest in science. However, the true highlight for many is the observation deck. The views here are consistently described as spectacular, offering a unique and spiritual perspective of the Kaaba and the surrounding city, especially during sunset or prayer times. TikTokReddit+1
