What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Krasnaya Polyana is praised for its stunning mountain scenery, excellent infrastructure, and wide range of activities, making it a great destination year-round. However, some visitors have noted issues with apartment maintenance, cleanliness, and service quality, suggesting a need for improvement in execution despite the amazing concept.
"Excellent Stay in a Beautiful Location – Highly Recommended!
I recently stayed at a hotel in Krasnaya Polyana, Sochi, and had a truly wonderful experience. The hotel was clean, well-maintained, and offered a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere throughout my stay. What stood out the most was the staff – they were polite, friendly, and always willing to help, which made us feel very welcome.
The location is excellent – just a short walk from a variety of restaurants and a nearby mall, making it very convenient for both shopping and dining. Access to the hotel is easy from different directions, which was a big plus, especially for someone unfamiliar with the area.
Another highlight was the surrounding walking area. It was perfect not only for me to unwind but also safe and enjoyable for my kids. We loved spending time exploring the area on foot.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Krasnaya Polyana. Whether you’re traveling with family or on your own, it’s a fantastic place to stay with great service and an unbeatable location."

"The apartment I stayed in was nice and had a great view. But it was not cleaned properly (the sockets in the kitchen were grimy, the balcony had dirt on the floor, the shower curtain was yellow because of not being washed) and the apartment is in a desperate need of some refurbishment. It seems that the apartments were top notch when they were built some 6 years ago, but they haven't had any proper repairs done since then."

"Their current reception office is not at the indicated address. It would help if they had placed a map at their closed reception office to help guests find the new office. For a large lodging operation, the check-in process is surprisingly slow. After waiting an hour to check-in, the desk agent tried to get us to pay again for our pre-paid reservation. Our room also didn't get cleaned during our stay. The workmanship of the room is also very shoddy. For a well-known resort town, this establishment doesn't live up to modern standards of service and quality. I regretfully can't recommend this place."

Navigating the Resorts: Gorky Gorod vs. Rosa Khutor
In contrast, Rosa Khutor is arguably the most developed and extensive resort, famous for its world-class ski slopes and Olympic legacy. It's divided into several levels, with the higher plateaus offering more challenging skiing and breathtaking panoramic views. Rosa Khutor has a more polished and resort-like feel, with a wide array of hotels, restaurants, and amenities catering to a diverse range of visitors, from families to serious skiers. Understanding these differences is key to choosing the right base for your trip and planning your exploration.
When planning your visit, consider what you prioritize: the charming village atmosphere of Gorky Gorod or the extensive ski infrastructure and dramatic mountain scenery of Rosa Khutor. Both offer access to cable cars that connect different elevations and provide stunning vistas, but their overall ambiance and available activities can differ significantly.
Beyond the Slopes: Year-Round Activities
Adventure seekers can also enjoy activities like mountain biking, zip-lining, and paragliding. For those seeking relaxation, the resorts offer spas, wellness centers, and opportunities for leisurely strolls through the picturesque villages. The Olympic Park in nearby Adler is also a popular day trip, showcasing the legacy of the 2014 Winter Olympics. The vibrant atmosphere of the resort towns, with their cafes, restaurants, and shops, ensures there's always something to do, regardless of the season.
Families will find a wealth of entertainment options, including playgrounds, aquaparks, and interactive museums. The cable car rides themselves are an attraction for all ages, offering stunning aerial views of the landscape. Whether you're an adrenaline junkie or seeking a peaceful retreat, Krasnaya Polyana provides a diverse range of experiences throughout the year.
Accommodation and Quality Concerns
Conversely, several reviews point out issues with apartment upkeep, including worn-out furniture, damaged wallpapers, and cleanliness problems like grimy sockets or dirty balconies. Some guests have also experienced slow check-in processes and issues with room service or cleaning during their stay. It's important to manage expectations and perhaps opt for well-regarded hotels or thoroughly research apartment reviews before booking.
Additionally, a critical safety concern raised is that balconies may not be child-proof, with balustrading potentially not designed to prevent young children from falling out. This is a significant point for families traveling with children and warrants careful consideration when selecting accommodation.
