What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the mesmerizing, picturesque views from Camel Rock Verblud, calling it a 'cool, awesome' experience with 'a sea of impressions.' The unique rock formation and surrounding natural beauty are major highlights. However, the access road is frequently criticized as 'terrible,' and some find the climb to the 'head' challenging.
"Mount Camel is one of the most picturesque and majestic peaks in the Western Zhiguli range. The summit is 326 meters above sea level.
It is famous for its 120-meter-high rocky ledge with a rounded platform at the top. Local jokers call it Balda, with an almost 360-degree view of the Koziy Ravine, the Volga, the village of Volzhsky with Tsarev Kurgan and Mount Tip Tyav. The views are very beautiful, simply mesmerizing.
On the eastern slope of the mountain there are adits that remain from the time of limestone mining in the middle of the last century. Climbers train on the man-made rocks.
The easiest way to get to the path leading to the Camel's back is along a dirt road from Shiryaevo. It is pretty broken, you can drive by car, but carefully and slowly. It is easier to walk or ride a bike through the "healing" mud. The climb to the back of the mountain is easy, to the head of the Camel is quite difficult, the descent is not the most pleasant. Shoes with good tread and normal physical shape are needed.
And of course, climb the mountain in good weather, and not in the rain or any other natural disaster.
The impressions from visiting this place will be the most pleasant, many beautiful photos will remain for a long memory.
And most importantly, you will definitely want to come back here, because there are plenty of mysterious places on the Camel."

"A good place for rock climbing, we've been going there for two years now. Very beautiful places."

"Beautiful place. We climbed the mountain with children; the climb did not involve much physical effort. Lots of caves. The road from Shiryaevo to Mount Camel is terrible. On weekdays they passed for free, but on weekends, collection posts were posted. It’s similar in the Shiryaevsky adits. A tent camp was set up on the mountain at the time of our visit. Young climbers stormed the mountain."
