"A pleasant hiking trail, though not perfect. I recommend starting on the left — at the beginning you’ll share the road with trucks working at the Lagoa Lodge, but soon after you’ll be on your own, just with other hikers. The climb up is enjoyable; follow the marked trail and avoid the shortcut. The marked path will run parallel to a water canal for quite a while, which makes for a very pleasant walk. Eventually, you’ll reach the lake — take your time to enjoy it. On the way back, there’s a short climb followed by the descent, with glimpses of the ocean along the way."

"The trail is very nice, ascending for most of the time. In the beginning it is a dirty road then turning into a narrow path beside a levada. The landscape is ever changing. Unfortunately there are a lot of people. It took us 3 hours up and down, including pictures and relax time at the lake. I highly recommend doing also the trail PR39SMI. The trail itself was even more beautiful than the one leading to the lake and along the way there are several old power factories which are really picturesque - check my next review for more details 😊"

"Amazing hike going through totally different environments! It took me 3:30 hours to complete, stopping countless Times on my way and at the lake to take pictures and observe nature. There are tiny trouts in the levadas!
First two kilometers are steep and not very interesting but once you reach the levadas it’s super easy. Then on the last part of the trail near the lake the nature completely changes which is really interesting. I took the same way back but it seems it can be done as a loop.
The parking is actually at the spot marked on Google, you cannot miss it. It’s just small so arrive early! I was the only one at 8:30 am."
