#viergemarie#fatima#jesus#holyspirit#miracles

"We went on Mass at night, a lot of people were there, the seats aren’t empty anymore. Next day we go in the morning, still see believers crawling on the path to the Chapel."

Daud

"This is a special holy place that is worth the trip. Both religious and gorgeous. Plus you can add other stops on a trip from lisbon to really make it a special day."

Justin Zalewsky

"Visiting the Chapel of the Apparitions was an incredibly special experience for our family. It was the first place we went to in the Sanctuary area. We sat with our children in the pews and celebrated mass. Later that night we returned, bought candles, and prayed a candlelit rosary. It was definitely chilly! (we went in mid-March) The Chapel itself only have 3 walls, thus being completely open on 1 side. The closer you are to the exposed area, the colder it is obviously. The rosary was beautiful and was immediately followed by a candlelit procession starting and ending at the chapel. The speakers rang out the Ave maria we were singing throughout the entire sanctuary. The sea of twinkling lights was spectacular. We would definitely go again if given the chance!"

The Story of the Apparitions

The Chapel of the Apparitions is central to the story of Fatima, stemming from the reported appearances of the Virgin Mary to three shepherd children—Lucia dos Santos, Francisco Marto, and Jacinta Marto—in 1917. Over six months, from May to October, Mary is said to have appeared to them in the Cova da Iria, delivering messages of prayer, penance, and peace. TikTokInstagram These apparitions culminated in the 'Miracle of the Sun' on October 13th, witnessed by thousands, which solidified the site's importance. TikTok+1

The messages conveyed by Our Lady of Fatima urged the faithful to pray the Rosary daily, to do penance for sinners, and to consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart. These requests were seen as crucial for averting war and bringing peace to the world. TikTok+1 The children, particularly Jacinta and Francisco, later died during the 1918 influenza pandemic, and Lucia became a Carmelite nun, dedicating her life to spreading the message of Fatima. The Three Secrets of Fatima

The 'Three Secrets of Fatima' are a crucial part of the Marian apparitions' narrative. The first secret, revealed on July 13, 1917, was a terrifying vision of hell and the suffering of sinners, emphasizing the need for prayer and penance. TikTok This vision served as a stark warning and a call to conversion. TikTok

The second secret, also revealed on July 13, 1917, concerned the end of World War I and the prediction of a second, more devastating war if humanity did not cease offending God. It also spoke of the rise of atheism and the persecution of the Church, particularly mentioning Russia. TikTok+1 This prophecy has been interpreted in various ways, with many linking it to historical events of the 20th century.

The third secret, revealed on October 13, 1917, was kept hidden by the Church for many years and was only fully disclosed in 2000. It described a 'bishop dressed in white' (interpreted as the Pope) suffering martyrdom along with other clergy and laypeople, amidst the ruins of a great city. TikTok This secret is often seen as a prophecy of the persecution of Christians and the challenges faced by the Church throughout history, including the assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II.
