Many highlight the professionalism and dedication of the operators in finding dolphins and whales, while also appreciating the eco-friendly approach. The added bonus of swimming in the ocean and enjoying sunset views makes these tours a highly recommended experience for all types of travelers.
"We had an amazing experience with VipDolphins Catamaran Whale Watching. Together with my fiancée, we truly felt like VIPs from start to finish. The trip was very intimate compared to other tours – only 17 guests plus the crew. The staff were incredibly friendly, always smiling and happy to chat. During the cruise, we saw many dolphins, swam in the ocean near Fajãs de Cabo Girão, and ended the day with a breathtaking sunset. Absolutely recommended! 🌅🐬"

"Top class experience. Everything is 5 stars. The boat, the crew, the service, the food & drinks, towels, everything. The crew really does an effort to find the dolphins and/or whales. And provides also a very interesting, educational explanation for every sighting. And we were lucky enough to see 2 types of dolphins and a very rare whale. And I love that the dolphin watching is so regulated on the island. There can only be 2 boats every time near the animals. And for a max duration as well. It keeps it very animal friendly. And the animals are clearly not bothered either. In fact, they like to swim along."

"An amazing experience—intimate, calm, and incredibly comfortable. It truly felt like a luxurious getaway. We were lucky enough to encounter a large group of dolphins swimming alongside us, but honestly, nature is unpredictable, and I would have been just as happy without them.
The snacks were delicious, the crew was top-notch, and drinks were continuously provided. We even got to swim in the ocean while watching the sunset, with towels readily available.
There’s really no other way to describe it—it was simply incredible."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Consider booking a tour during the morning or early afternoon to avoid overtiredness. While sightings are common, it's good to manage expectations with children by explaining that marine animals are wild. The chance to swim in the ocean, if offered, is usually a huge hit with kids. Pack sunscreen, hats, and light layers for comfort.
💑 Couples & Romantic Getaways
Choosing a smaller, more intimate boat tour can enhance the romantic feel, allowing for a more personal experience with the crew and the ocean. The opportunity to swim together in the open sea as the sun sets is a unique and cherished memory for many couples. It’s an ideal way to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy a magical evening in Madeira.
💰 Budget Travelers
Compare prices across different companies and check for any available discounts. While food and drinks might be basic on budget tours, the core experience of seeing marine life is still the main attraction. Consider tours that offer a good balance of duration and price to maximize your experience without overspending.
