"It was established around 1378 as the Pig Market, outside the city walls, and served as a trading hub for the developing district.
The name "Fish Market" didn't appear until the early 19th century.
After the wartime devastation, most of the buildings were demolished, and reconstruction of the eastern tenement houses began in the 1990s; the western frontage was renovated in the early 21st century, restoring the square's pre-war character – some of these buildings were rebuilt by my late father.
Today, it is a vibrant meeting place for both locals and tourists. Concerts take place here in the warmer months, Christmas markets in the winter, and artistic events are also held here."
