What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the historical architecture and the unique experience of tasting Krynica's renowned mineral waters. The ability to bring and heat your own bottle is a practical plus. However, some guests have noted inconsistent service from the water dispensing staff, with a few individuals described as unpleasant.
"The negative review stems from the appalling service provided to patients by the staff dispensing the water. Despite my fondness for Krynica Zdrój, famous for its healing waters, as a long-time patient (my first visit was in the mid-1990s), I decided to share my observations. I remember many of the staff dispensing water at the "Stare Łazienki Mineralne" and the "Jan" pump room from my first visits to this resort. Unfortunately, these individuals (two men and a few women) are very unpleasant, sour, and rude. The entire dismal staff is topped by a woman – a brunette of average height who clearly derives satisfaction from drilling patients; she loves to "raise the blood pressure" of her clients. Unfortunately, this is very unpleasant... I should add that, fortunately, there are two ladies there who are kind and friendly to the patients. One of the ladies has worked there for several years, and the other, a blonde, for a very long time."

"I had the opportunity to try Krynica mineral waters. The cost for a cup of water is 2 PLN. We also bought more water to take away. You can bring your own glass bottle and heat it up so that the water is not too cold to drink. A great idea in winter. A nice place."

A Glimpse into Krynica's Spa History
The baths themselves were considered among the largest and most modern spa facilities not just in Europe, but potentially the world at that time. The construction was a substantial undertaking, costing 150,000 Rhine zloty. This investment reflected the ambition to establish Krynica as a leading health resort. The building's eclectic spa architecture from the Historicist period is a key feature, showcasing a blend of styles that was characteristic of grand public buildings of the era.
Historically, treatments conducted within the Old Mineral Baths were aimed at addressing diseases of the respiratory and circulatory systems. The waters themselves, first chemically analyzed by Baltazar Hacquet in 1788, were the core of these therapeutic offerings. Even before the construction of the baths, Krynica was recognized for its healing springs, with the Municipal Office owning numerous spa facilities by 1857. The Old Mineral Baths represent a pivotal moment in harnessing and presenting these natural resources in a grand and accessible manner.
Experiencing Krynica's Mineral Waters
A particularly clever tip shared by visitors is to bring your own glass bottle. This not only allows you to take some of the healing waters home but also provides the option to heat the water up before drinking. This is especially appreciated during the colder months, making the experience more comfortable and enjoyable.
While the mineral waters are the star, it's worth noting that visitor experiences with the staff dispensing the water can be varied. Some reviews mention encountering less-than-friendly individuals, while others highlight the kindness of certain employees. Approaching the experience with patience and a positive attitude can help ensure a pleasant visit.
