What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Tumshukayko offers beautiful views of Caraz and a glimpse into pre-Inca history, but its potential is hampered by neglect and a significant issue with stray dogs. While some find it a peaceful place with historical intrigue, others are deterred by the site's upkeep and the aggressive canine population.
"Roel guide is the best!!!
Free guided tour + photos! Thank you so much the views are beautiful!!!"
Tanya Ivanova
"The first thing you experience when you enter this pre-Inca site is the pack of aggressive barking dogs. Such a waste that this important archeological site is so neglected by the government. They allow people to build right alongside the ruins. But the biggest problem are the many dogs. Some even tried to bite us.
We were here in 2018. There were maybe four dogs then. This morning there were about fifteen. What a shame that it is so difficult to appreciate this setting, good views, and nature. This might have been a very peaceful place to relax and contemplate. Instead we must constantly look out for dogs."

"Place has a lot of potential but is really badly kept and full of stray dogs that barked aggressively"
