Llegamos a Caraz, un paseo por su hermosa Plaza de Armas con una espectacular vista a su catedral. Luego, fuimos al Santa Cruz Eco Lodge, situado en Huaripampa. ¡Muy recomendado! 🇵🇪💪

Reviews Summary

Caraz is praised as a beautiful and clean town with a charming Plaza de Armas, offering a relaxed atmosphere and convenient access to local amenities and surrounding natural beauty. While the town is generally safe, visitors should be aware of stray dogs, particularly when exploring areas outside the main square. Reddit

"This is a wonderful little town at the northern end of the Callejón de Huaylas region. It has a beautiful plaza, a fascinating little market, and some good affordable restaurants all around. You can get direct service to Lima and Trujillo from town, without having to return to Huaraz. There is a partial view of the cordillera blanca and full view of the cordillera negra. I recommend stopping by the monastery of the capuchino brothers at the edge of town.
The only major problem in this town is the dogs. Everywhere you need to beware. The town is full of packs of dogs running around all day, barking and often fighting at night. There are some interesting sites nearby, like the mirador viewpoint, hanging bridge, and the archeological site. But I wouldn't risk going to these by foot with packs of dogs everywhere.
If you are feeling adventurous, head to the remote town of Huaylas about an hour farther up, but be prepared for a slightly nerve-wracking route along the valley."

"Beautiful place, clean and secured. Definitely I have to come back again."

Ed Zo

"A typical central square of an Spanish town. The cathedral on one side, government palace on the other.
A good place to stop for a breather if you don't mind (or enjoy) the street noise."
