Reviews Summary

Pangong Tso is overwhelmingly praised for its breathtaking, ever-changing blue hues and serene, spiritual atmosphere. Visitors are awestruck by its vastness and pristine beauty, often calling it a must-visit for its otherworldly charm. Some note the walk to the shore and basic facilities as minor inconveniences.

"Absolutely stunning lake with different shades of blue colour visible so clearly. It's a salt water Lake at the height of over 14000 feet. The water is so crystal clear and gives you a feeling of calmness. It's a spiritual experience. A must visit place."

Rajesh Sood

"One of the places I’d put on the top of everyone’s list when visiting Ladakh.

Couldn’t believe my eyes while approaching the lake. So vast and unexplainable how awestruck I was when I set my eyes upon it.

Went here during the evening as it was getting cooler and it added to the experience. Stayed here overnight in one of the hotels close by and it was simply superb. Waking up to the view of the lake was one of the best experiences I had in my life.

The parking is close to the lake but will have to walk for a good 5-10 mins to get to the bed. People with difficulties and elders should be cautious.

Lots of opportunities to take pictures and have a good time along the bed. There are chargeable expenses for a few pictures with movie related props along the bed.

Can spend as long as you want here and will still warrant it inefficient. Such is the place."

Alex Rajala

"Pangong Tso, one of the most iconic and mesmerizing lakes in Ladakh, is a natural wonder that leaves a lasting impression on every traveler. Situated at an altitude of about 13,860 feet and stretching across India and China, the lake spans approximately 134 kilometers, with around one-third of it lying in India. What makes Pangong Tso truly magical is its ever-changing color—from deep blue to turquoise to green—depending on the time of day and the angle of sunlight.

Surrounded by barren mountains and vast stretches of untouched beauty, Pangong Tso offers a surreal and almost otherworldly experience. The silence and stillness of the lake are deeply calming, making it a perfect spot for introspection and peace. It gained massive popularity after being featured in Bollywood films like 3 Idiots, drawing even more attention to its pristine charm.

While the area is remote and the facilities basic, there are tented accommodations and homestays available nearby in Spangmik and other villages. Temperatures can drop sharply, especially at night, so proper clothing is essential. Visitors should also be cautious of high-altitude effects and carry necessary supplies.

Though it lies close to the Indo-China border and requires a permit for some areas, the journey to Pangong Tso itself is an adventure—passing through dramatic landscapes, mountain passes, and picturesque valleys.

Pangong Tso isn’t just a destination; it’s a feeling. Its raw beauty, silence, and breathtaking vistas make it one of the most unforgettable spots in Ladakh—a must-visit for every nature and adventure lover."
